Designer vs Dupe: Handbags

Whilst researching for this post, my brain suddenly pinged and I realised I’d accidentally stumbled on a dupe of the Marc Jacobs Tote Bag – hence the reason for this post! It’s safe to say the vast majority of us don’t have the means or inclination to drop ££££s on a handbag – so dupes it is! The high street is coming up strong on this, as these beauties below prove.

Chloé Drew Dupe

Ever since first seeing Sincerely Jules sporting her Chloé Drew ☟ (circa 2 years ago), it entered and has firmly remained on my bag wishlist.

So naturally I was ecstatic when this caught my attention.

This was my first purchase from SHEIN and whilst upon arrival the bag did have a somewhat artificial and dare I say cheap smell to it, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality. After a few outings its plastic smell soon faded and it started to feel like my own.

I won’t be using it as my everyday handbag as I’m one of these people who can never go anywhere without the kitchen sink in tow but it’s most certainly a perfect evening or special occasion bag.

This wasn’t the only dupe that I came across on SHEIN.

In the market for a ‘Gucci Dionysus’?

Ted Baker: Rachila Crossbody Bag

Growing up I always adored Ted Baker. As a brand it symbolises the best of British quality and elegance.

My Mum and I used to love a good shopping spree and more often than not they were a regular feature of birthdays. It is at this point that I hasten to add that no pocket money or Saturday job in the world would have afforded me to kit my whole wardrobe out with Ted Baker.

Ted Baker then kind of fell off my fashion-radar for a few years but it was only after watching this vlog by Victoria from In the Frow that my awareness of the brand resumed.

One thing led to another and I ended up on the Ted Baker website and there was one bag that immediately caught my attention.

And here it is…

 

I’ve wanted a quilted bag ever since the days of The Hills and LC with her quilted Chanel.

The inner child in me obviously had to incorporate it into my birthday meal outfit.

It’s the perfect size. Not too big, not too small and you can comfortably fit in your purse and phone, plus any other bits you may need.

There are some other similar ones that are as equally beautiful.
